Medieval Period and Malla Regime

Probably, In the history of Nepal medieval period is believed to have started when Nepal Sambat started in 937 BS (880 AD). The medieval period starts from 937 BS and end to 1825 BS (880 AD to 1768 AD). This period ends when the unification of Nepal started. This is the period of 900 years long is known as medieval period of Nepal. Therefore this period also known as the period of Malla regime. King Ari Malla is known as the first Malla king and the last Malla king is known as Jaya Prakash Malla.

Day 01

Full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley

After breakfast in your Hotel, you will be transferred for the sightseeing destination Pashupatinath. Pashupatinath: This temple is the most important shrine for the Hindus from all over the world. Although non Hindus are not allowed inside the premises of the temple, the cremation that takes place outside of the temple area is interesting for foreigners. It is also listed in UNESCO world heritage site in 1979. The main attractions of this area are: SADHUS / Hindu holy men, cremation ceremony etc. Boudhanath: It is one of the biggest pilgrimage site of Tibetan Buddhism. It is also known as one of the oldest monument in Kathmandu Valley and enlisted in the UNESCO world heritage site in 1979 A.D. This site is also known as first monument with a written history. Bhaktapur Durbar Square: In the ancient time, there were three ancient kingdom in Kathmandu valley i.e. Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Patan. So, the Bhaktapur is one the three ancient small kingdom in the Kathmandu valley. It is 15 kilometers far from the city of Kathmandu. Major tourist attractions in Bhaktapur are: The Nyatpol temple (pagoda style tallest 5 storied temple in Nepal), The 55 windows Palace, The Royal Bath, Pottery Square and Dattatreya Temple are the major attraction in Bhaktapur. Day 02

Full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley

Patan Durbar Square: The Patan city comprises more than 136 Buddhist monasteries and 50 Hindu temples. Most famous south Indian style Krishna temple, the Royal Bath, Keshav Narayan Chowk, Sundari Chowk, the Taleju telmple, golden temple are the main attractions of Patan Durbar square. And this city is also famous for carvings done in metal, wood and stone. Swoyambhu: Swoyambhu stupa, situated on a beautiful hillock at a distance of about 4 km from the Thamel city of Kathmandu. This stupa is religiously important for Buddhist as well as popular among the Hindu devotees and people of other faiths. This peaceful and calm hill gives us an opportunity of picturesque view of the Kathmandu valley and charming view of splendid panorama of Himalayan range. Kathmandu Durbar Square: Durbar square means, places of palaces. It is also called "Basantpur Durbar Square". This square is located at the heart of the city and must to see and hard to forget tourist destinations in the Kathmandu valley. The Durbar Square is surrounded by ancient Newari architecture, popular shrines, high temples and old royal palaces. Highlights of Durbar Square: • Kasthamandap (It was completely c collapsed in the 2015 earthquake) • Kumari Bahal • Taleju Temple • Basantapur Tower (partially damaged in 2015 earthquake but now, it is in under reconstruction) • Trailokya Mohan Narayan Temple (but it was completely collapsed in the 2015 earthquake) Overnight in the Hotel.
