About Bhutan

Bhutan cultural tour from Kathmandu is becoming one of the popular choices among travelers as a result travelers are increasing day by day. First of all, I would like to explain the capital city of Bhutan. It is the only capital city in the world without a traffic light. Bhutan is a small kingdom resting in between India and China in South Asia so, it is a landlocked country.

The land area occupied by Bhutan is just 38,394 sq. km. and the population of Bhutan is 797,765 according to the estimation of 2016. The official language of Bhutanese people is Dzongkha and the currency is Ngultrum. The capital city and largest city is Thimpu. Bhutan has a few fertile regions because Bhutan mostly consists of the mountainous region.

The main seasons of Bhutan are:
June-August: Summer and Monsoon
September-November: Autumn
December-February: Winter
March-May: Spring

Bhutan follows Driglam Namzha to preserve the traditions and cultures therefore, it is a set of etiquette as what to wear, how to eat, talk, bow down and so on. It was introduced and implemented in the 90s and has been followed ever since. Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan is the only capital in the world

Bhutan measures the prosperity of people by taking the citizen’s happiness level into consideration because they think that happiness can not compare with Gross Domestic Product. Gross National Happiness, or GNH, is a holistic and sustainable approach to development which, balances material and non-material values with the conviction that humans want to search for happiness.
