Brief History of Kathmandu, Nepal
Kathmandu valley occupies 220 sq miles of its land. The main habitant of this valley is Newar and they come in power from the 13th century. The Lichchhabi kings from 4th – 9th centuries established the valley similarly Malla regime decorated the valley with their extraordinary architecture. Likewise, in the mid of 18th century, the great Prithvi Narayan Shah invaded the valley from the Gorkha kingdom.

Patan (the city of fine art) lies 9 kilometers far from Bhaktapur in the southern part of Kathmandu city. Bhaktapur: Major tourist attractionsin Bhaktapur are: The Nyatpol temple (pagoda style tallest 5 storied temple in Nepal), The 55 windows Palace, The Royal Bath, Pottery Square and Dattatreya Temple are the major attraction in Bhaktapur. Patan: The Patan city comprises more than 136 Buddhist monasteries and 50 Hindu temples. Most famous south Indian style Krishna temple, the sunken bath, the Taleju telmple, golden temple are the main attractions of Patan Durbar square. And this city is also famous for carvings done in metal, wood and stone. Swoyambhu (Monkey's Temple): Swoyambhu stupa, situated on a beautiful hillock at a distance of about 4 km from the Thamel city of Kathmandu.
